Have you done anything special for ALS Awareness Month?
We all have a story to tell! Obviously, my story includes ALS, but I’m so much more than my diagnosis.
I’m a school psychologist and I’ve had an amazing career. Unfortunately, I’m having to go on disability at the end of this school year. I was honored to be featured in a video at this year’s State of Education Address. It was a much bigger event than I realized. I received a standing ovation, and it brought me to tears.
At times it feels strange to be recognized for having ALS and advocating for our community. Let’s face it, we wouldn’t be in our shoes if we had a choice! I do my best to stay positive. It isn’t always easy as you all know. What a way to bring attention to ALS. I refuse to sink!
