My husband Mike started having problems with his speech about 5 years ago. He felt like his mouth wasn’t going to work, right before a public speech he was going to give.  He had an amazing voice, of course, I am his wife speaking.   About 2 months earlier he had a really bad cold, flu. He had never been that sick before, but didn’t go to a dr. .  I liken it now like the COVID 2018 type situation.  He had not  been to a Dr in 40 years except to have Dr.  sign his  drivers license off  for his renewal of his commercial  license which he had done in his earlier years, and a blood test.  We have done all natural supplements throughout our lives.   All great. One Dr. said you are stronger than a horse.   MRIs and C T scans through the 5 years.  Nothing showed up.  About 2  1/2 years ago , after several  neurologists, one said , after a  visual visit , you have Bulbar Palsy.  We said we know all about  Bells Palsy.  He said you will choke to death, but you have another 10 years.  Ha ha…….Sorry to say we have not been back to that Dr. But since then, Mikes voice and body has weakened.  Very little speech now, but mind is very active.  He has been a realtor for 23 years now.  We live on my great grandparents farm, and we had  been active in farming after my parents passed away.  One of his main Problems is excess saliva.  Of course, they assume that’s from the muscle loss.  Drs. have little to say about that.   We believe it’s more than that.  Mike has lost a considerable amount of weight, even though he still is able to eat an average meal for his age.  He’s 74.
