Hi Julie, my name is Dave and my wife has been battling ALS for almost 11 years. She does not have the C9 allele, but I do know a little about this form of the disease. There is very promising news from a group at the Mayo Clinic collaborating with Ionis/Biogen using ASO technology. Are you aware of the ongoing clinical trials?

That the tandem hexamer C9 repeats make nearly perfect DNA binding sites for the transcription factor Sp1. 9/10 consensus match.
Dont know that anyone has even thought of this, or its potential implications to ALS.

I have an idea (4 pg proposal) that I’m pretty sure is correct and may be worth investigating, but do not know who to forward it to. Anybody have any ideas?
Thx ~ Dave
