Age 78. Before ALS, my health was generally good, apart from diabetes diagnosed about 2007. I live with my wife (75) in a bungalow. I have two married daughters an hour’s drive away. I first noticed weakness in my right leg about May 2020. With delays due to the pandemic, I saw a neurologist in November; he prescribed an AFO brace and sent me for an MRI and nerve function tests. Diagnosed with ALS in March 2021. Referred to ALS Clinic at Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto; my first visit was in September. I am on Riluzole and Radicava. I have lost most of the use of my right leg, and am wheelchair bound. My speech and swallowing are affected, and I am having a feeding tube placed soon.
