Are we making progress? Canada just approved Albrioza (AMX0035) with conditions for treatment of ALS. This conditional approval requires the pharmaceutical company to continue to gather and provide evidence that the treatment works.
In the United States, the FDA found that Albrioza was safe; however, said it was lacking sufficient evidence…[Read more] -

My family has the SOD1 mutation which I also inherited. The Pre-fALS study that I participate in also contributes to this study and many of the participants were in the clinical trials. I’ve been told that as soon as I show significant enough symptoms that I will be a candidate. Irom what I’ve read and from what the researchers have told me,…[Read more]

Michael, (or anyone)
If you ever want to talk about the study just let me know! I’m always open to talking and sharing any information I have. And of course, I’m always eager to learn about what others are learning about too. Team work makes the dream work! I’m just praying that the dreams come true sooner than later.

Kathy and Richard,
You are right, many people do not know about ALS until it impact their life in some way. Unfortunately, I guess that is true with a lot of things that people don’t want to deal with in life. I hope that ALS News Today and our members are helping to contribute to ALS Awareness and actively generating funds for research and…[Read more]

Most people have probably heard the news that John Driskell, a founding member of the Zac Brown Band, was recently diagnosed with ALS. He has also started a foundation, Hop on a Cure! It’s a shame that oftentimes it takes a famous person to be diagnosed with a rare disease in order for the disease to get more attention and funding.
Have you h…[Read more] -

All three of his children, including my father, passed from ALS. We have the SOD1 mutation and it appears to be slow progressing. I’ve volunteered for 3 different studies, the last…[Read more]

I’ve listened to this speech a number of times. Lou Gehrig was such a gracious man and carried himself in such a positive manner. Today is Lou Gehrig Day and I think it is great that the Baseball profession is trying to “Pitch in” and raise ALS awareness :). Punn intended.

@ Romy,
That was such a beautiful and heartfelt message. Thank you so much. My “baby” cousin (Bruce’s daughter who is in her early 30s0 reached out to me and let me know that since they did not have a funeral service for Bruce in February, we will be gathering in the Islamorada (The Keys) in August for a celebration of life.
