Short Bio | Dr. Tak-Shun (Daniel) Choi received his Doctor of Medicine (Summa Cum Laude and Distinction in Research) from State University of New York (SUNY) Health Science Center at Brooklyn (also known as SUNY Downstate Medical Center) in 1993. Dr. Choi received medical training at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center, SUNY Downstate Medical Center, and University of Texas (UT) Southwestern Medical Center, and research training at SUNY Downstate and Deborah Research Institute in Browns Mills, New Jersey. Dr. Choi was an associate professor of pathology at UT Southwestern Medical School, and the Clinical Pathologist and Medical Director of Transfusion Medicine at Veterans Affairs (VA) North Texas Health Care System for 22 years. Dr. Choi received the Alumni Achievement Award in Pathology during the 138th SUNY Downstate Annual Reunion in May 2018. Dr. Choi medically retired in December 2021 due to amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) diagnosed in October 2021. |
