Bob Scannell started the topic Gabapentin, good or bad for ALS? in the forum Living With ALS 1 year, 12 months ago

Where is best place to find out information on these, and more specifically, given a need to prioritize where to spend time finding help for my wife’s ALS, are either of these worth pursuing, or just a bunch of words which in the end are not available for most?

My wife is just recently diagnosed with ALS. She is 52. She is not eligible for Social Security Disability, because she has been a stay at home Mom since our first child was born.
So, we are not able for Medicare through Social Security.
Is there another means of getting into Medicare (because of ALS), other than through Social Security Disability?

Bob,
Have you contacted your local ALS Association Chapter to see if they had advice or information. If you find out anything please post the information in the forums. I’m sure that others are in similar positions. I’ll be following to see if anyone in our online community has information.
