My husband and I are long distance care-givers, which is not an easy feat.  We jumped at the chance to help our family member as there was no one else who could be trusted.  We have faced many challenges as our relative refused treatment or was in denial.  Additionally our family members planned to move to our state so we would be close to monitor all care.  They decided not to move so much is accomplished long distance.  Love, caring and patience are needed in situations like this.  But, our family member has now come around as progression with F-ALS has happened quickly.  A great care team has helped to make our role successful.  We are retired and moved to a retirement community just prior to our relative’s diagnosis.
