I will be 69 years old on Saturday (Jan 29th), am married, have one living son, a lovely daughter-in-law, three grandchildren and live in Denton, TX. I had another son who died unexpectedly at age 25 years. I taught chemistry & physics for years and then moved to educational sales where I remained up to this month. I was diagnosed with early onset Bulbar ALS in Sep 2022 by a neurologist, referred to a team of ALS specialist in Houston, TX and after 2 days of testing they agreed that the initial diagnosis was correct. I have since retired from my job as a national sales director because travel was “too much” for my body. My symptoms to date are frequent chocking, extreme tiredness, headaches, slurred speech especially when I have had a hard day and muscle weakness. Even walking up stairs is a challenge due to rapid breathing and legs being tired. I am currently using a non-invasive ventilator, a cough assist machine & various medications.
