As a singer and linguist, being diagnosed with Bulbar ALS was a real game changer. I used to teach French, Spanish, and ESL but also speak Italian and some Dutch and German. I moved to Florida after the onset of my symptoms but still started a French Conversation Group on Amelia Island when we moved here April of 2022. Now I communicate primarily with Speech Assistant, a free app on my phone, and with my Tobii Dynavox Device. I am still mobile and have the use of my right hand and arm, but get most of my nutrition and water through my PEG tube.
