I’m having alot of difficulty with mobility and leg stiffness does anyone have suggestions that might help?

    • Hi Linda, I have found that range of motion movements and gentle stretching helped me keep my legs from feeling stiff. And I am able to keep the muscle tone as well. On days when I miss doing my ROM sessions, I end up feeling stiffer and move with less ease.

I’ve written a lot in my blog about these types of gentle movements. Let me know if you have questions on any or how to do them.

      • Thanks, I do toning exercises and stretches but when you get up at night and first thing in morning its so difficult to walk to rest room. I guess I just have to struggle thur these times. I would be glad to know the ones you do I’m always open to add more and learn other options.

        • I hear ya! I am so stiff in the AM. I began with a 5 min. stretch while lying in bed (knee pulls, leg stretch, body twists, rolling over, etc) over 11 years this routine has morphed into a full 30-min. When I finally stand and walk to the bathroom, I feel more coordinated, relaxed and… if the rest of the day falls apart, at least I’ve done some exercise 🙂

        • Oh, and I don’t get up in the middle of the night. Too much risk of falling. Right away during my 1st year of ALS, I “retrained” my bladder. It’s a process of drinking adequate liquids during the day, but towards evening reduce liquids. I don’t drink anything after 7PM. It took about a week to do, but I’ve been sleeping a solid 9 hours for 11 years now. With no issues 🙂
