My husband Todd was recently diagnosed in November 2023.  It took 11 months for our local Neurologist to figure out that he had ALS.  We were sent to IU ALS in Indiana for a second opinion.  The head ALS Neurologist told us that my husband had ALS and the local had enough information since May. So you can image how an angry we were and how much time they took away from us. We could have been traveling over the summer. By the time we knew, he lost 60 pounds and had to put in feeding tube.  He was affected in his speech, eating, and swallowing.  He has not had any weakness in his body. But he wishes he was weaker in his body and able to talk and eat. We do not have a local support group.
