My 52 year old son who is a world champion kickboxer, father of 4, grandfather to 5 and business owner has just been diagnosed with ALS.  His wife and I had been researching and watching changes in him – difficulty swallowing, slurring of speech, muscle undulations and stiffing and cramping of his neck and hands.  He still teaches kickboxing and martial arts and volunteers as military reserve, training others.  Like many stricken with this debilitating disease, his ability to remain physical and vocal is central to who he is.  We, as a family, just invested in buying a new building to get things rolling after the Covid19 shutdown.  He works hard every single day and this disease threatens everything he’s worked for the past 30 years.
