    From diagnosis to ongoing visits, many pALS feel intimidated when speaking to their neurologist. Before each visit we have expectations, questions and topics to discuss. But sometimes those items are never addressed. Whose fault is it?

    Early on, I was shocked to learn that my doctor and I had different agendas: mine was rehabilitation and recovery, my doctor’s agenda was to provide palliative care. Plus, I wasn’t an “emergency” to fix. I was a patient with an ongoing, chronic condition.

    And I bring along my written list of questions, have them visible and go through them one by one with my doctor.
