I have been walking with no assistance but walking has become more difficult for me and my balance is off. Recently I had a fall. I was in a store at the time and was by myself. I was reaching down to get something off the shelf and lost my balance and fell onto the floor. I got up by myself and didn’t seek medical attention. I don’t think…[Read more]

Hi Maya,
My name is Kathy and I was diagnosed with ALS about a year and a half ago. I am 45 years old. For me, it has been like a nightmare. I wish I could just wake up one day like this never happened. I have had a lot of difficulty with coping with this diagnosis. I have been depressed and anxious and I am afraid of dying. A lot of m…[Read more]

I can really relate when other pALS have said they feel alone in this experience. I often feel alone and forgotten. I rarely have visitors or family and friends contacting me to see how I’m doing. It seems like everyone is busy with their own lives and what they are doing. Nobody understands what I’m going through. I guess I can’t expect…[Read more]

It’s admirable that you care so much about your brother-in-law and want to help him as much as possible. ALS can indeed be a very isolating experience. Does your brother-in-law have any family members or friends that text him or come to visit him? I agree with Dagmar that you could encourage him to join this forum in order to communicate wi…[Read more]
