<p>Various stem cell treatments have been around as long as I&#8217;ve been living with ALS, 16 years. I&#8217;ve never read where this was successful. Only that treatments are very expensive and have to be repeated because the effects wear off (the stem cells die).</p>

<p>I found that taking smaller bites of food helps with swallowing. Also, training myself (and my dining companions) not to expect me to eat and talk at the same time. 🙂</p>

<p>About ALS: daily uncertainty if my body will be working well today or if one part decides to go on strike. Having to pay attention all the time &#8212; and not drift into mindless movement (or swallowing, or breathing).</p>

This includes improving our daily nutrition. </span></p>
<p><span>I was a lacto-ovo-vegetarian at the time of my diagnosis. My doctor told me to eat more protein, so now I include animal meats, and the change helped me have more energy.</span></p>

I know I am grateful for mine. I’ve been using a rollator for 15 years. </span></p>

Now if we only could get our egos to accept them as well 😉 😉</p>

For instance, it was intrusive; it was (I believed) the first thing people noticed when I entered a room. It showed up in photographs, and when hugging a friend my rollator became a third party in the entanglement.</p>
<p>But when out and about, I learned my rollator was actually a helpful visual “alert” to&hellip;</p>

The hype is to bring notice to the lab &#8230; not give pALS helpful facts.</p>

And I believe it will continue through 2026. However, for those of us with sporadic ALS, the advancements have been dismal. We are still in the beginning stages; laboratory tests, mouse models, Phase 1&#8230; followed by not-so-stupendous results. I&#8217;m not being negative,&hellip;</p>
