I’ve recently read about ALS research in Israel suggesting that the use of the microRNA-126 molecule to treat ALS might not just slow or stop, but REVERSE the progression of ALS. I encourage others to join me in urging Dr. Merit Cudkowicz, director of the Sean Healey ALS center at Mass. General Hospital in Boston, to focus on research in this area (to my knowledge, the first ever to potentially lead to an actual cure for ALS).

Shane, do you have a link to the research that you can share here, so we can learn more about it?

    The study, led by <strong jscontroller=”zYmgkd” jsuid=”qcfRe_13″ data-complete=”true”>Prof. Eran Perlson and <strong jscontroller=”zYmgkd” jsuid=”qcfRe_14″ data-complete=”true”>Dr. Ariel Ionescu, was published in the journal <em jscontroller=”yHWXO” jsuid=”qcfRe_15″ data-complete=”true”>Nature Neuroscience in late 2025.

Unfortunately there was a comment that clinical trials on human beings could be several years way.

I agree — that’s what is so frustrating about getting caught up in the latest announcements, breaking news, etc — it usually turns out to be about theories or trials with fish, mice, or still in the petri dish. The hype is to bring notice to the lab … not give pALS helpful facts.
