i too have the familial gene that gave me ALS, although it is C9 gene. I’m the first one in my family to get ALS. Fortunately I’m a veteran and VA is taking good care of me.

Len,
I have the mount from Tobii Dynavox and I haven’t mounted the Pilot yet so I don’t have an answer for you.  I will mount it tomorrow and let you know.

Good Morning Len,
The Pilot doesn’t do WhatsApp that I13 or I16 will do.  There’s no WhatsApp for iPad.  If have an iPhone, you can pair that with the Pilot that way all your calls and texts and pictures will come also on the Pilot.
I switched to the Pilot because I like Apple.  Also because the I16 was big.   The Pilot is a little bigger than the iPad Pro.  I have a mount for my PWC.  It’s on the left side and doesn’t interfere with my driving.
Hope this helps.
Sincerely,
Daniel

Hi Len,
I started with the Tobii Dynavox I16 when they offered that model.  Last year I received the Tobii Dynavox Pilot.  The eye gaze will wake the Pilot. I don’t know about driving my PWC.  I can still drive my PWC.  My speech is more affected and it works well.

I look forward to every birthday!  My mind is young and I feel the same in my body.  I adapt to every change and I have to give up on the things I can no longer do.  I’m good spirits every day.  I can’t just mope around saying woe is me.  That’s not who I am.
Sincerely,

I retired a month after my diagnosis. Â I was 60, I turn 62 this year. Â I was an IT professional for 40 years and I was losing dexterity in my hands my voice was changing. Â My wife and my ALS team all recommended that I retire and I was glad I did.

I try also but I’ve had symptoms for four years and was recently diagnosed with ALS in Oct 2020.  I’ve been excluded from trial I’ve applied to.  It seems the drug companies don’t care about PALS who have this disease for years.  We just have to suffer in silence.

I’m currently at 26/27 varies from month to month. I’m always excluded because of my score or I’ve had symptoms too long. I got my ALS diagnosis in Oct 2020 and symptoms started in 2018.
