I AM ALS is gearing up for its 2024 Community Summit and ALS Awareness Month events, taking place May 29-June 1 in Washington, D.C.
For the third year, I AM ALS will be hosting a flag event on the National Mall. Flags bearing the names of those directly affected by ALS, both living and passed, will be displayed on the Mall between the Washington Monument and 14th Street SW. In 2022 and 2023, more than 6,000 flags were displayed for the event.
“In addition to awareness raising, the I AM ALS flag event is a vital opportunity for community members to come together, connect, and heal. Additional programming through the Summit this year will allow community advocates to spend even more time together, learn skills from each other, and gain energy to take them into another year of movement building and action,” said Andrea Goodman, CEO of I AM ALS.
For the first time, I AM ALS is also hosting a Community Summit, a three-day event that brings together the ALS community and advocates to meet and discuss important issues in the ALS community and possible solutions.
I AM ALS is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded by Brian Wallach and Sandra Abrevaya with the mission of providing support and resources to those affected by ALS. The patient-led community is dedicated to awareness and advocacy efforts that will put an end to ALS.
