ALS Association, Schoox partner to provide ALS education resources
Among offerings: Free caregiver course, programs for healthcare providers

The ALS Association is teaming with the workplace learning company Schoox to provide education resources for patients, caregivers, healthcare providers, and others affected by amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
With this partnership, Schoox will provide fast and easy access to a range of resources, including educational materials and programs for ALS patients and caregivers, and certification courses for providers.
“The ALS community looks to us for all things related to ALS,” Shannon Walters, vice president of learning and development at the ALS Association, said in a Schoox press release. “We chose Schoox to help us provide an easy-to-use experience for everyone from health professionals earning certifications to people living with ALS and their loved ones.”
Among its online ALS education offerings, Schoox will host the self-paced ALS Caregiver Education Course, which allows those caring for people with the progressive disease to learn more about ALS and develop techniques for working with patients.
ALS Caregiver Education Course addresses physical, emotional issues
The caregiver course addresses issues such as the physical and emotional aspects of ALS, beneficial and harmful interventions, and strategies to guide decision-making during care. It also covers the importance of overall well-being and safety for both the patient and caregiver.
The free course, completed over 11 modules, aims to help learners gain a better understanding of how to support patients and how their responsibilities will change over time.
According to Schoox, the course “is an excellent resource for home health aides, therapists, and palliative caregivers, equipping them with the knowledge and skills necessary to provide compassionate, effective care” for people with ALS.
Other resources will be designed for healthcare providers and researchers, as well as for patients and others affected by the disease, such as family and loved ones.
We are excited to partner with the ALS Association to offer a learning management solution that provides valuable knowledge and support. … Together, we aim to empower individuals living with ALS, their families, caregivers, and anyone seeking to learn more about the disease.
ALS is a progressive neurological disease that causes gradual damage to the nerve cells that control movement. While there are treatments to manage ALS symptoms and slow disease progression, there is not yet a cure.
The ALS Association was founded in 1985 with the goal of improving quality of life for people with ALS, and ultimately aiding in the development of a cure. In addition to providing educational and informational materials, the ALS Association funds research and advocates for public policies that will benefit the ALS community nationwide.
Among a wide range of support programs and resources, the nonprofit provides patients with financial assistance to reduce care barriers, as well as the free ALS Insurance Navigator tool. That toolt helps people understand healthcare claim denials and put together appeals.
“We are excited to partner with the ALS Association to offer a learning management solution that provides valuable knowledge and support,” said Lefteris Ntouanoglou, founder and CEO of Schoox. “Together, we aim to empower individuals living with ALS, their families, caregivers, and anyone seeking to learn more about the disease.”
Schoox is a learning platform that partners with organizations to provide training and professional development materials.
