Redesigned Target ALS website improves accessibility for patients
Revamp also makes it easier to participate in research programs
- Target ALS has launched a redesigned website with improved accessibility.
- It helps ALS patients access information and participate in research.
- Scientists gain easier access to research tools, data, and funding.
Target ALS has announced the launch of its redesigned website, which improves accessibility and highlights its research initiatives to accelerate the development of effective treatments for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
The new digital platform offers an improved experience for the ALS community, facilitating access to more information about the disease and participation in research. It was built and tested with community members to ensure it is easily accessible and usable, including for individuals who rely on assistive technologies.
For researchers, the website enhances access to shared research cores and funding opportunities, making information on research programs clearer and participation easier.
“ALS research moves fastest when barriers are removed,” Manish Raisinghani, PhD, CEO of Target ALS, said in a press release. “This website is not just a visual refresh. It is infrastructure. It reflects how we work, who we serve, and our commitment to building a research ecosystem where the best ideas can move forward quickly and equitably.”
New website offers improved experience for researchers
The website highlights Target ALS initiatives, including the ALS Global Research Initiative, which includes global research studies enrolling participants from diverse and underrepresented populations. The initiative helps scientists study genetic and environmental risk factors that impact ALS incidence, clinical presentation, and progression, with the goal of identifying new biomarkers and treatments that benefit all those affected by ALS.
Researchers can access Target ALS research cores, which provide human-derived stem cell models, ALS mouse models, reagents, body fluids, postmortem tissue samples, and comprehensive gene and protein data.
Data sets and analytical tools are available through the Target ALS Data Engine. It houses data from Target ALS’s natural history study, which is designed to better understand the causes, symptoms, and progression of ALS, as well as the Innovation Ecosystem, a collaborative model that brings together academia and the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.
The website offers an overview of how these tools work together to accelerate scientific research and drug development. According to Target ALS, the new site design combines scientific accuracy with easier access, ensuring that complex information is clear and understandable.
Beyond research, the website also features stories from people with ALS, their caregivers, and scientists working on ALS research, as well as the latest on research news and fundraising efforts. The latter includes a community fundraising platform, corporate sponsorship, and a charitable investment account.
