Explaining the Early Symptoms of ALS
This short video from the ALS Association Texas Chapter shares the early symptoms of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) using simple computer-generated animation.
ALS is difficult to diagnose in the early stages as the symptoms presented can often mimic other diseases and conditions. Some of the early signs include muscle weakness or a lack of motor control in the patient’s arms and legs, which may mean suddenly tripping over things regularly or having difficulty performing simple tasks like buttoning a shirt. Patients may also experience other symptoms like shortness of breath, difficulty swallowing or uncontrollable crying or bouts of laughter.
