Dean Holds Special Ceremony So Father With ALS Sees Daughter Graduate

Brad Gildenblatt was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis in 2014. Three years later, his ALS had progressed to the point where he was unable to travel from Dallas to Oklahoma to see his only child, Caitlin, graduate from Oklahoma State University. However, when one of the deans of the university found out, he stepped in to help.

According to a report on CBS DFW, the family had planned to live stream the event so that Brad could witness his daughter’s ceremony, but the dean decided to go a step further and drove down to Dallas with Caitlin and held another graduation ceremony in Brad’s hospital room.

Caitlin was overjoyed to be able to share such a momentous occasion with her father, who had been hospitalized following a bout of pneumonia. She is now planning to return to Dallas to help nurse her father in his final weeks.
