Man With ALS Plans to Hike 600 Miles to Raise Awareness of ALS
This video from WCVB Channel 5 Boston is all about Rick Marks from Winchester, Massachusetts. Following an amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) diagnosis last October at the age of 55, Marks decided to raise awareness of the disease by hiking from Massachusetts to Maine.

He plans to tackle the 600-mile trek along the Appalachian Trail from Mount Greylock in Massachusetts to Mount Katahdin in Maine over a period of eight weeks to awareness of the disease and money for the non-profit organization ALS One. ALS One is a partnership of doctors and researchers who are working together to develop better treatments and hopefully a cure for the disease by 2020.
