Rates of ALS – Veterans vs Non-Veterans
I have a question. I hear regularly that ALS is more prevalent in veterans. When comparing incidence in veterans compared to non veterans, I always wonder if the numbers are easily compared. The veterans administration has an extensive and comprehensive data collection mechanism. Patients in the general population and not always in a system that collects that data completely. People in rural or underserved populations are also not often part of a data collection system. How do they correct for these discrepancies?
Thanks for clarifying this for me.
