Explaining the Early Symptoms of ALS
This short video from the ALS Association Texas Chapter shares the early symptoms of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) using simple computer-generated animation.
ALS is difficult to diagnose in the early stages as the symptoms presented often mimic other diseases and conditions. Some of the early signs include muscle weakness or a lack of motor control in the patient’s arms and legs, which may mean suddenly tripping over things regularly or having difficulty performing simple tasks like buttoning a shirt. Patients may also experience other symptoms like shortness of breath, difficulty swallowing or uncontrollable crying or bouts of laughter.
