A July 15 golfing event brings the ALS Therapy Development Institute (ALS TDI) together with he Azzur Group to raise money to help support research into potential new treatments for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).

The Azzur Fore ALS Golf Tournament is set to take place on Thursday, July 15, at Goat Hill Park Golf Club in Oceanside, California. Check-in begins at 7:30 a.m., and golfing starts at 8:30 a.m. PT.

Proceeds will support the ALS TDI, a comprehensive and nonprofit drug discovery lab dedicated to ALS research. Current treatments range from symptomatic therapies to those aiming to slow the neurodegenerative disease’s progression.

“We are pleased to join forces with ALS TDI to sponsor this tournament,” Michael Palermo, manager of strategic partnerships and local marketing at Azzur Group, said in a press release. “Holding steadfast to our core values, we are hopeful that the proceeds from the event will enable further advances in the treatment for ALS and have a positive impact on patients and their families.”

The Azzur Group partners with pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device manufacturers to provide solutions that help them start, scale, and sustain their GxP organizations. A general abbreviation for “good practice,” GxP is a collection of quality guidelines and regulations crafted to ensure that biopharmaceutical products are safe, meet their intended use, and follow quality processes during production, control, storage, and distribution.

Other event sponsors are CleanSpace, a cleanrooms solutions provider, and Azzur Cleanrooms on Demand, part of the Azzur Group.

“Azzur Group believes in corporate social responsibility as an important part of our culture,” said Ravi Samavedam, president and CEO, Azzur Cleanrooms on Demand, which provides startups with manufacturing infrastructures and compliance expertise. “We are always looking for opportunities that relate to the work we do and the needs within the communities we serve.”

Added Mike Shannon, program director for ALS TDI: “We are so thankful to have the support of Azzur Group. There is currently no cure for ALS. Our research to find treatments for this disease is funded by the ALS community and fundraising events like the Azzur Fore ALS Golf Tournament are incredibly important in helping us to continue the vital work being done in our lab.”
