ALS in Stephen Hawking’s Words

Stephen Hawking is an English theoretical physicist, cosmologist, author and Director of Research at the Centre for Theoretical Cosmology within the University of Cambridge. He is also well-known for suffering from ALS – amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, a progressive neuro-degenerative disease which affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. ALS does not affect a person’s ability to see, smell, taste, hear, think, or recognize touch

ALS does not affect a person’s ability to see, smell, taste, hear, think, or recognize touch. Patients usually maintain control of eye muscles and this is how Hawking still writes his books, maintains his research and keeps his brain exercised.
