ALS TRIVIA – – “The Les Turner Foundation” – – Did you know?
The Les Turner Foundation was established in 1977 after Les was diagnosed at age 36 with ALS. At that time there was very little research about ALS. The Les Turner Foundation set out to raise funds to provide vital research and resources to people living with ALS and their families. The Les Turner Foundation is known for supporting pALS in the Chicago area.
The Les Turner Foundation has led to and supported many accomplishments; including establishing the nation’s first ALS research laboratory at Northwestern Medicine in 1979, creating support programs to help pALS and their families, and in 1986, establishing the Lois Insolia ALS Clinic, a multidisciplinary ALS clinic at Northwestern Medicine. Additionally, the Les Turner ALS Foundation became a founding member of the International Alliance of ALS/MND Associations in 1992. In 2014, the Les Turner ALS Center at Northwestern Medicine was formally established.

What organizations in your area have made contributions to pALS? In what way do they support pALS and the ALS community?
