I found out about this organization, and I love the concept. Here’s their mission statement:

An ALS diagnosis often triggers a premature acceptance of actual or perceived physical limitations and a resulting downshift in stimulating and fulfilling experiences. As avid travelers and explorers, Steve and Michel Gleason set out to continue pursuing a life of travel experiences in the face of Steve’s diagnosis, proving in the process that living with ALS just might be the ultimate adventure. This is the spirit that inspires Team Gleason Adventures.”

I think we should all consider applying for an adventure!

If you were going to ask for an Adventure from the Gleason Foundation, what would it be?

My adventure would be a week away studying with a great oil painting teacher. No thought about home or meals or laundry or visits or stairs. Just as much time spent painting as my arms and my energy level would allow.

That sounds magnificent! Have you thought about asking the Gleason Foundation for that as an adventure? I would love for you to have that experience.

I didn’t know that Gleason sponsored trips or adventures.

We applied for my husband to drive with 3 friends of his to see a Saints game in New Orleans and spend the night at a nearby hotel. He had never been to a Saints game. We were turned down and it was pretty depressing for him. Now it would be too late for him to only go with the guys because he needs too much help. 🤷🏻‍♀️

</div><div>That really saddens me. Did they give you a reason why the request was turned down. I call them several times a year to get information to share on ALS News Today. </div>
