Advocacy is important for ALS. It gives all of us the opportunity to raise money, educate ourselves and others about the latest research. It also  helps agencies like the ALS Association have a louder voice when asking our govenement to support ALS research and to help direct what reseach should be targeted. The ALS Association is already preparing for May 2020, and fundraisers and Walks to Defeat ALS are organizing! http://www.whathealth.com/awareness/event/alsawarenessmonth.html

I know that if you have just be recently diagnosed you have a lot of information to  take in and volunteering or raising funds may not be something you can consider at this time; however, if you are in a place in your life to get involved (regardless if you are a pALS, caregiver, loved one or friend with ALS) just know that every contribution, every Walk to Defeat ALS team, every thing big or small  helps the ALS cause!!

Also, don’t forget that the ALS is a valuable resource for all of us!
