I think early on when the forum was first started we posted a topic about service dogs. Although I know my dogs are far from being service dogs they bring me a great deal of comfort and companionship.  If you have an illness or disability a dog could be a lot more than just a pet or a companion, especially if you live alone.  There are a lot of unknowns with ALS as we are all well aware of.  Would a service dog be helpful to you? As this page on the ALS Association’s website mentions, there are a number of things to consider when applying for a service dog and the process could take a couple of years.  http://web.alsa.org/site/PageNavigator/paws_to_consider.html  What are your thoughts? Does anyone have a services dog (or animal)?
