Tips for Talking to Your Doctor
This Macmillan Cancer Support video shares some tips on how to get the best out of your doctor’s appointments and hospital visits.
Dr. Davina Deniszczyc explains that before you meet with your doctor it’s a good idea to prepare a list of questions you want answered. Taking someone along for moral support will help you emotionally and they may also be able to help you remember some of the items discussed during the appointment.
Be sure that you understand all the doctor has told you and if you don’t understand something, don’t be afraid to ask for an explanation. Dr. Deniszczyc’s final point is in regards to honesty: while some subjects may be embarrassing for you to talk about, the doctor won’t be embarrassed and can help allay any fears you have.
