A little assist to “keep on talking”
Living with ALSĀ has taught me to adapt, adapt, and adapt. Because ALS symptoms tend to change, change, and change. And one of the symptoms Iāve been learning to adapt to isĀ dysarthria, or losing the ability to speak.
Like every other ALS patient with dysarthria, I was told by my medical team that eventually I would lose the ability to speak and that assistive technology would speak for me. I didnāt want to give up so easily.
In this weekās column I wrote about what Iāve been doing to keep speaking with the voice I have. Listen! Can You Hear Me Now?
Have you tried any of these options and, did they work for you? What else are you doing to keep on talking?
