We are the most concerned with finding a cure for ALS or a way to stop the progression. Cannabis continues to be a controversial treatment for many diseases. Some research suggests that cannabis may be a way to not only treat some of the symptoms of ALS, but it may possibly slow down the progression of the disease.

Cannabis is thought to help with pain, spasticity, appetite, depression along with other symptoms of ALS. Many articles state that cannabis can slow down the progression because it is an anti-oxidant and a neuroprotector.

Are doctors freely prescribing any cannabis products to treat ALS in your area? What are your thoughts? Have you read any articles on information on cannabis and ALS?

I go to a VA ALS Clinic. Doctors there cannot prescribe Cannabis because it is a federal hospital. I Did ask my Neurologist about me using it; I’m in a Medical Marijuana state. He was supportive of the idea.
