ALS TRIVIA – – “Jerry Lewis” Did You Know?
That the comedian Jerry Lewis was the first celebrity “spokesperson” for ALS? Many celebrities have had ALS, from baseball great Lou Gehrig to most recently the singer Roberta Flack. But although Jerry Lewis never had ALS or any of the other muscular dystrophy conditions included under the umbrella of the Muscular Dystrophy Association, he championed fundraising and research for nearly 59 years. Most visible was the annual The Jerry Lewis MDA Labor Day Telethon which began in 1966 and aired every Labor Day weekend until 2010.
Do you know of other celebrities who don’t have ALS but are champions for raising ALS awareness?
