There is stem cell research such as discussed in this article https://alsnewstoday.com/nurown/ that looks to be promising. I did some research online to see what all stem cell therapy can be used treat and the list is very long. Have any of our pALS participated in stem cell trials? Have you been keeping up with research? Do you think this is the direction that ALS research should pursue? Please share your experiences, thoughts and ideas on stem cell therapy.

I have one friend (pALS of 2 years) who is participating in a stem cell trial that is currently on-going. He has had his bone marrow harvested and is waiting for stem cells to be created and then injected into his spine (in about 4 months). He won’t be receiving motor neuron cells…just stem cells. The researchers are still at the stage of evaluating the process, not the outcome.

However, I think stem cell therapy once it is perfected will hold great promise for healing conditions such as ALS.
