When Friends and Family Wonder How They Can Help
A good number of our new members to the ALS Forum are friends or family of a person with ALS. When the ALS patient is newly diagnosed and feeling overwhelmed by ‘what to do’ – – friends and family often feel the same way. We are all looking for answers and the ‘next steps.’ Friends and family want to offer their help, but often are not sure what is needed or what is appropriate.
I have been living with ALS for 9 years and if I could go back in time, here’s what I would tell my friends when they asked that famous question, “What can I do to help?”
