‘SpongeBob SquarePants’ Creator Diagnosed with ALS
The creator of popular children’s animation series SpongeBob SquarePants, Stephen Hillenburg, has been diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) according to a report on variety.com.

The 55-year-old announced that he was recently diagnosed with ALSÂ and is in the early stages of the condition. Hillenburg has vowed to continue working on the hit show for as long as he is able to do so and has the full support of his family, friends, and colleagues.
Hillenburg released a statement in which he shared his diagnosis but requested the media allow him and his family time and space to deal with the news.
SpongeBob SquarePants has been running since 1999 and has been commissioned by Nickelodeon for further two series. As well as working on the television show for 18 years, Hillenburg has also directed two SpongeBob movies. Read more about this story here.Â
