Summer Self-care; What are YOU doing?
Posted by Dagmar on August 20, 2024 at 1:01 amSummertime can bring with it lots of activities… too many perhaps.Â
What are you doing to build self-care into your week or day?
Has it been easy or difficult to carve out time for taking care of YOU?

It’s been a hot summer here in Arizona, so because the extreme heat just zaps my energy, I’ve spent a lot of time indoors. Another energy zapper is the daily news on TV – – I put my earphones on and listen to relaxing music. Selfcare? I’ve managed to stay consistent with my daily exercise routines, eat and drink healthy, and do “yarn therapy” – – tackling my unfinished knit and crochet projects. I’m interested in learning what our forum members have been doing 🙂

A lot of reading, library books and eBooks, exercises on my massage table and walking with help a little bit around the house. I also love to write my journal entries on Caringbridge, com. I enjoy writing but LOVE the feedback. I’ve had over 1,000 visits at this point and it’s an easy way to keep friends and family posted and hear back from them when they write comments!

I just got back from a Joe Dispenza Retreat in Dallas. It is the first time I have traveled with my Jazzy Carbon travel chair by Prime Mobility. It made traveling so much easier. It was a great trip!

tell us more about the retreat… what was your favorite part?

My wife and I are retired and able to spend more time at our little lake cottage. I have been walking around with my AFOs. To get to the lake without the AFOs, I have been using a walking pole and it’s working pretty well. Once in the water I use a tube for balance while I walk back and forth for exercise. I am able to be without the tube and do a little “swimming” and regain upright. I need some help getting in and out of the water but otherwise feel comfortable and safe. The water offers some buoyancy but also some resistance. Hopefully we get a few more weeks in the water before it gets too cold in New Hampshire.

Your cabin by the lake sounds so relaxing! Isn’t “water walking” fun (and good for body-brain connection)? Hope you both continue to enjoy each day. 🙂
