Are Your Friends Struggling with What to Say to You?
Whether I’m at a social gathering or in the middle of a light-hearted chat in the grocery store, there’s no doubt about it – – people can say the darndest things! Especially, when they’re stymied as to what to say to me, about my ALS.
In the spirit of raising ALS awareness and to help friends and family who are struggling with this issue, I wrote the column: What (Not) to Say to a Friend Who Has ALS

I told our friends that as there was no shortage of topics to discuss when my wife was not a patient with ALS, there should no shortage now as well. My wife’s illness simply is not an added topic.
