Have you participated in any ALS awareness-raising events?
Like many newly diagnosed ALS patients, during my first few years with it I was still trying to find out more about the disease. Never mind having to jump in and help raise funds for it. Every time May rolled around with ALS Awareness Month, it felt weird; I didn’t know how I fit in or what I could do.
In my column, “How I Took My First Step in Spreading ALS Awareness,” I write about my first experience joining a fundraising event.
What was the first event you participated in and how was the experience for you? What advice can you give others? If you haven’t joined any yet, what is holding you back?
