Not all ALS research involves testing new medications and clinical trials. I’ve found several unique and not often mentioned research projects that I participate in. These involve using my voice – – or what little is left of it!
1. EverythingALS.org has an ongoing project where I provide voice recordings (pronouncing words and reading short passages) all done online. Check it out here: https://www.everythingals.org/speechproject
2. https://www.als.net/arc/ ALS Therapy Development Institute – – online monthly questionnaire and voice recording via phone.
3. Team Gleason Speech Accessibility Project – – this one uses my voice recordings to help teach AI devices to understand my ALS-voice better. [email protected]
